The Chinese Silane Era

2010.01.25 Silane is a compound made of organic silica powder and methyl chloride (chlorine gas and methanol) synthesized in a catalytic reaction. Organic silanes are continuously providing new value-added solutions for various applications in multiple industries. Silanes combine organic and inorganic materials. Silane is temperature resistant, radiation-resistant, flame retardant, water-repellent, non-toxic, tasteless and physical inert, etc.

China has successfully developed a new type of highly efficient catalyst for small asymmetric organic molecules.

2009.05.16 Novel’s research department and collaborators developed a chiral ionic liquid-based catalyst for small organic molecules. This type of catalyst’s unique structure is effective during small organic molecule asymmetric synthesis and ionic liquid catalytic function. When an ion-induced liquid structure is used as a key chiral group, a highly selective catalytic reaction can occur without losing the ionic liquid. The catalyst can be recycled four times while maintaining a fairly high selectivity.
